Training Division

The SMC Fire Training Division is responsible for delivering state- and federally required fire suppression and rescue training as well as annual Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training. The Division also oversees probationary training and testing, career development, promotional testing, safety program implementation and maintenance, company-level training support, driver training, and other programs that help ensure our personnel are prepared to safely and effectively serve our community.

SMC Fire partners with the San Mateo County/College of San Mateo Fire Academy by providing personnel to assist with student training, as well as access to our training tower for hands-on firefighting instruction, including water application, forcible entry, and ladder operations.
